ONE TIME CERTIFICATE VERIFICATION KPSC

This post tries to capture word for word my experience during One time Certificate Verification process of Kerala Public Service Commission.
I wrote and cleared one relevant exam and of course was called for or notified through my KPSC profile page and through (two) messages on mobile, asking me to be present for the process of certificate verification. If I am not present in person on the said date at the the said venue, I will be eliminated from further selection process. So I was highly strung up and over worried ( paranoid) about the whole process. Worrying constantly about keeping healthy, and being present at the place, way before time of course and with all the originals of all the relevant certificates!!!! and of course in order to reassure myself I checked and re- checked the KPSC site to find out if I can , find anything at all about this process! There were a lot of posts , asking me to do this and that! Then I searched off hand for any personal experience of the process..AND I FOUND NOTHING!! NO LITERATURE QUOTING PERSONAL EXPERIENCE..>!!!!!
SO , I AM writing this to rectify that...in case there are any paranoid souls out here...searching in the dark for a helping post...;)
I was asked to be present at the venue at 9 am ...my batch number  was clearly specified on my profile message. It never hurts to be half an hour early, helps you relax and socialize a bit. So be early! sit down relax, cool the sweat. I was formally dressed, did not risk a bad first impression and yes! these small things matter, dress neatly ! and keep your certificates readily accessible and neatly ordered. I have a leather bound folder and I have ordered then up in the recent to not so recent.
I was called to the venue at sharp 9 ...yay ...Surprise..! But they took their time to get the venue truly ready...the venue was an open hall, with lots of chair and 5 computers with a printer at the far corner..and two people manning each computer. All the final manning , happened in about 15 to 20minutes and the venue was set for us ..and yes each computer dealt with one batch..Each batch had roughly 10 people..and morning session had about 5 batches...So there were about 50 ppl around..They asked us to sit as per our batch number and we did.
Next I was called for the actual process of verification. Of course not that quick, unless you are the first on the list, I was not. I has unnecessary taken a photocopy of everything and kept it with me just in case, didn't need those. They asked for my 10th certificate first, then 12th, then degree, PG and finally any additional qualifications.
It is important that you properly scan and upload all your relevant certificates before the certificate verification process. PROPERLY SCAN means every detail of the certificate should be clearly visible in the scanned image, especially your roll number, your final percentage of marks , your name, your university. Another thing to notice is your passport size photograph. Make sure your forehead and chin is visible ,if it is not in the photo you uploaded during exams, make sure to up load another typical passport size photograph on your profile page. Tell the studio ppl what the photo is for and they will make sure that you have the right picture with the right specification with you on line and offline ,if needed.
Also make sure that your parent's name is same in all your certificates, there was one instance where it was different in school records and NET certificate and that person had to get it certified by a gazetted post third party that the person mentioned in this certificate and those other ones are one and the same, and had to show up with this paper on another day to complete the verification process. So in case you have got the names messed up anywhere  ,in any of your papers, get a certificate from the village or taluk office certifying that this name and that name belongs to one and the same person.
Another matter of contention is the caste certificate. If you have one , then make sure that it shows your non creamy layer status. Coz KPSC don't wanna know which caste your are ,if you don't come in the non creamy layer..so CASTE certificate means NON CREAMY LAYER certificate  ,unless otherwise specified. And another matter that needs mention here is that NCL certificate is given on the basis of PARENT'S status not spouse or anyone elses!
When you upload your certificated and enter details like certificate identification number on your profile page , make sure that you enter them carefully and correctly. If you have given your driver's license as your identification, make sure to carry the original and also enter the number on the license in your profile in the space provided. Apparently even your non creamy has a number, see and enter them carefully. And it is most important that you have all the relevant qualifications required for the post for applying for the post. In other words, if you cleared NET after you wrote the exam , you don't qualify for the post. likewise if you dint have your M.A before writing the exam , then you don't qualify ..so make sure you got the dates on your certificates right, one month can means the difference between qualify and dis qualify..literally!!

So to sum up
1. Be early on the venue , at least 15 minutes
2. Keep all your original certificates ready with you ( make sure to upload clear scanned image of them before you go, they do provide reasonable time margin for you to do so, do it then, and do it well)
3. Be confident!
4. In case your passport image is not clear, upload a clearer one
5. In case of emergencies be ready run to the nearest computer center and get it cleared.

No need for anything more, they will ask for the original of all the certificates you have uploaded, and check each detail, marks, roll number,,everything..yes remarkably trained to find out anomalies, so best of luck if you have any discrepancies in your papers...there is 98 % chance that you are screwed if you do!
And in case any of your scanned images are no good, run outside, there are thankfully and rightfully a lot of places , providing scanning and uploading services , right outside KPSC, opposite the road, they do it fast too, at a reasonable rate. So no need to panic, Please cross the road carefully. It is close enough but of course you will need your originals to scan! so keep your originals with you and don't forget to collect them back once you are done!
The officials will clear you once all the above steps are complete and then at the end of this gratifying process, the printer at the far corner of the open hall will creak and splutter, and give you a two page certificate. THAT MY DEAR READER, is what the whole process was about!! you will get clearance! . Two beautiful pages, with your name, and details, including marks and stuff. In fact a summary of all that you are saying you have cleared the One time Verification process.
There are two signature involved in this final  step, one is yours in their register against your name, stating the you have collected your OTV certificate, another and most important one, is on the certificate itself , of the verifying officer, don't forget to get this signature, the precious two paper's (with the KPSC logo) validity rests on this one signature, and it is most probably given by the guy siting at the computer, helping you with the process of OTV. AND yes that is it. My personal experience with the OTV process of KPSC.
The officials are definitely very efficient , duty bound and surprisingly willing to help you, so be ready.
 ALL THE BEST.

I had uploaded scanned documents about a year back. Just a few days ago they have msged to report for OTV (mid march) and to upload scanned documents (by 31st march). So I dont' know what more I should upload. Will it be OK that if I have to upload anything more, it can be done after the OTV.
Moreover my KPSC profile pic has turned more than 1yr old (1yr has passed after I applied for the exam as well was exam date). So should I change it now?
